Alcpt Form 88 Guide

How to ask for directions, clarify information, express opinions, and give advice.

The ALCPT is developed and owned by the Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC). It measures English language proficiency through the modes of listening and reading. The test is used to place students in an American Language Course (ALC) program, evaluate progress at the end of a course level, and screen candidates for readiness to take the more advanced English Comprehension Level (ECL) test. It's also used to evaluate English abilities for local personnel on overseas US military installations as required by service regulations.
